SEND US YOUR BROTHER is being produced for theatrical release, television broadcast – both in feature and in a TV hour format – the festival circuit, educational/ institutional and VOD/DVD sales. The feature’s release will also be accompanied by a Social Impact campaign.
Currently in late development/ pre-production, Nisha has spent many months in the field in India researching the topic, finding subjects, and beginning some preliminary filming. We anticipate going into production in early summer 2017.
We warmly welcome co-producer the National Film Board of Canada and NFB Producer David Oppenheim onto the project, as well Drew Dragoumis (Thao’s Library) who joins Andy Cohen (The World Before Her and Ai Weiwei Never Sorry) and Atul Gawande (best selling author of “Being Mortal”) as an Executive Producer.
We want to thank all those who have supported this project to-date including: the Corus-Hot Docs Development Fund; the Ontario Media Development Corporation Development Film Fund; NFB/Canadian Film Centre Creative Documentary Lab; Canadian filmmaker Deepa Mehta and the Toronto Film Critics Association; our Canadian charitable partner Inspirit Foundation and our US fiscal sponsor Women Make Movies and all those who have generously donated through them to the production. We are so grateful for your support!
More recently, we have secured broadcast commitments from Canadian provincial public broadcasters TVOntario and Knowledge Network, and a distribution agreement with Mongrel Media who will theatrically release the production in Canada. And we are close to raising the funds necessary to complete the film with very good news from the Theatrical Documentary Fund supported by Telefilm Canada and the Rogers Group of Funds who will be investing in SEND US YOUR BROTHER.
